TBEA acts as an industrial spokesman in negotiation with the Government on polices to contribute towards the industrial growth of Taiwan.

　

As of 2004 we have about 330 members. By law, all Taiwan companies involved in the bicycle industry are required to be members of the TBEA.

　

The TBEA is formally led by a Chairman who is elected by the membership. The Association is managed by the Secretary General. Addtionally there are 23 Directors, seven Supervisors(six Managing Directors and one Managing Supervisors). Officers are elected for three year terms. There are various categories of membership, classed according to members' company capital and turnover. Between one and five members act as category representatives.

The TBEA has a new logo which we believe represents our association and its goals very well.

　

　

The TBEA works to promote the reputation of the Taiwan bicycle industry. We also assist members to participate in domestic and international bicycle exhibitions.

　

We help members deal with and settle international trade disputes such as in anti-dumping actions.

　

The TBEA's web site has been set up to disseminate TBEA and industry news to the world and to promote business for our members.

　

Our monthly newsletter broadcasts the latest industry news, product development information and import/export statistics to all our members.

　

The TBEA holds meetings periodically. The meetings are an import forum for sharing ideas and experiences as well as for discussing industry-wide problems and challenges or disputes faced by individual members.

　

The TBEA organizes seminars and conferences that feature expert speakers. These instructive forums help to ensure members continue to learn and improve business and administrative skills.

　

7. Liaison with Government

One of the functions of the TBEA is to liaise with the government in order to build and maintain a business environment in which the bicycle industry can continue to prosper.

　

Our annual Innovative Bicycles Parts and Accessories Competition encourages and promote vigorous product innovation amongst our membership and international promotion of the competition helps to raise awareness of the achievements of the Taiwan bicycle Industry in international markets.

　

We actively promote the activity of cycling in Taiwan including the construction of new bicycle paths.

　

Among our social activities are the Friendly Golf Tournament and our Bicycling Trip Members have an opportunity to communicate with each other in an informal and relaxing environment.

　

　

The global demand of the bicycles, crawling from the bottom of the valley of 2003 step by step, is estimated to be about in 2004. According to the previous experience, it normally takes about three years for this surging journey. As a result, the prosperity is expected to continue for several years. The actual statisfies shows that in addition to the regular low stock, the growing demand from the Europe as well as the United States guarantees a stable sales. Foreseeably, 2005 will be even better than 2004. In accordance with the induatry's mission of "Staying in Taiwan", the new year's resolution of Taiwanese bicycle induatry is to upgrade the product by means of more dedication to R&D. In order to upgrade the trade business, not only the production will be enhanced but also the unit price will be raised. This year's special breakthrough is the introduction of innovation, value, trend in the production of bicycle which is expected to be fully mature and popular in the whole industry. With the advantage of new material, new function, new use, helps to enhance the flexibility of a bicycle which makes the riding bicycles become a fantastic experience for bicycle lover. Based on this developing potential, the prospect of biking leisure business is promising.

　

　

　

We shall strengthen our cooperation with the Center of R&D as well as the Bureau of Industry, MOEA in terms of creating new products with new materials and upgrading the induatry by applying new technology in producing high-end bicycles.

　

We shall encourage the R&D of new products among the producers of parts, promote the multiple operation of the business based on the current technology in order to avoid the production of like parts within the same group of producers which would cause vicious competition in the same industry.

　

We shall coordinate the exporting strategy and plan among the whole industry in order to escape the allegation of anti-durnping as a result of foreign countries' protection mechanism in the international trade.
